Ruston is mourning the loss of one of its longtime businessmen after J.N. Walpole, founder of Walpole Tire Service, passed away late Sunday night, only days before his 92nd birthday.   When honored with the 2018 Robert E. Russ Award by the Ruston-Lincoln Chamber of Commerce, Walpole briefly spoke of his business beliefs.   “I started the tire business with only three people in 1956, and I tried to build my business on honesty and integrity,” he said.   Two years earlier, when Mayor Ronny Wal...

Attempting to avoid road debris is dangerous because — both visually and mentally — it is hard to process the hazard level of an object in the few seconds a driver has to react. Drivers who encounter road debris, often don't hav...

5 Common Power Steering Problems

posted on
In order to reduce the need for effort from the driver to steer the vehicle, engines use a system referred to as “power steering.” This is a hydraulic system that uses power steering fluid to build pressure that is used to change the direction of the wheels. This means that you don’t need to arm wrestle with your steering wheel when trying to take a turn.   When your car’s power steering system begins to fail — or the fluid needs to be replaced — it can make it much harder to control arou...

Make Your Tires Last

posted on
Your tires are a big investment, and while it’s easy to just take them for granted, you want them to last through their entire warranty phase (at least). Here are some tips on how to get the most life out of a set of tires:   Tire Rotations — No vehicle has 50/50 weight distribution from front to rear, and front tires see a different set of stresses from braking and cornering.
